Where to see lemurs in Madagascar: 8 of the best parks

Andasibe-Mantadia
The easiest rainforest park to reach from the capital, and home to the indri, the largest living lemur, whose haunting song carries for kilometres. Night walks here reveal mouse lemurs and chameleons. See our full Andasibe guide.
Berenty and the deep south
Berenty Reserve is famous for habituated ring-tailed lemurs and the dancing Verreaux's sifaka that hop sideways across open ground. It is one of the most reliable places in Madagascar for close, natural encounters. More in our Berenty guide.
Ranomafana and Isalo
Ranomafana is misty montane rainforest with golden bamboo lemurs and red-bellied lemurs, while Isalo's canyons hold ring-tailed lemurs and sifaka against dramatic sandstone scenery. Both sit on the classic RN7 road trip.
More lemur hotspots
Kirindy Forest near Morondava is the best place for nocturnal species and the fossa, the lemur's main predator. Amber Mountain in the north offers crowned lemurs and waterfalls. Anja Community Reserve is a small, community-run site with dozens of ring-tailed lemurs. Masoala, the largest protected rainforest, rewards the adventurous with the red ruffed lemur.
