Masoala and the northeast
The Masoala peninsula protects the largest tract of rainforest left in Madagascar, running right down to the sea. Reached by boat from Maroantsetra, it offers red ruffed lemurs, pristine forest and snorkelling, with humpback whales in the bay in season. It is remote, rainy and magnificent.
The Makay and the deep interior
The Makay massif is a labyrinth of canyons and plateaus in the southwest, barely touched and explored only on foot with camping support. It is a genuine expedition for fit, adventurous travellers who want to leave the roads entirely behind.
Wild coasts and forgotten corners
The Mahafaly and Anosy coasts of the south, the dry forests of Daraina with the golden-crowned sifaka, and the sapphire towns of the north all reward the curious. These trips need careful logistics and flexibility, exactly what a tailored, locally run trip provides.
