Nosy Be: Madagascar's island paradise

Nosy Be, the big island off the northwest coast, is Madagascar's best-known beach destination. It is the perfect place to relax at the end of a wildlife trip, with islands, reefs and warm seas.

Beaches and island hopping

Nosy Be itself has long sandy beaches and easy-going resorts, but the real magic is in the smaller islands nearby. Day trips run to Nosy Iranja with its sandbar, Nosy Komba for its tame black lemurs, and the marine reserve of Nosy Tanikely for snorkelling.

Under the water

The reefs around Nosy Be offer excellent snorkelling and diving, with turtles, rays and seasonal whale sharks. Between October and December, gentle whale sharks gather offshore, and snorkelling alongside them is a bucket-list experience.

More than beaches

Inland, Nosy Be is fragrant with ylang-ylang and vanilla plantations, and small reserves protect lemurs and chameleons. The dry season from May to November brings the clearest water. Nosy Be pairs naturally with the north and Diego Suarez, or as a finale to a longer trip.

We can add Nosy Be to any itinerary as a relaxing end. Plan your island days.
